Metro tunnel work to finish within October in Delhi
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday completed the tunnelling work at the Lal Quila Metro station. This constructed tunnel is going to be a part of the extended Central Secretariat Kashmere Gate corridor of phase 3.
The 650 metre long tunnel runs between the Jama Masjid and Lal Quila Metro stations. The maximum depth of the tunnel runs 14 meters. A similar tunnel on the same stretch is being constructed. The ongoing construction is scheduled to get completed by October 2014. This will help diverting the rising traffic. The construction of these tunnels had started late last year seeking on the arising traffic problem.
These construction works will help in solving the traffic problems that had arrived specially in these two corridors. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had specifically looked into the fact that no delay occurs during the construction phase. The building of these corridors have been met smoothly and delivered right on time. The similar tunnel which is being constructed on the same stretch between the Jama Masjid and Lal Quila corridor is the only tunnel work that is yet to be complete.
