Industries major Aditya Birla Group has submitted its sixth multi- crore proposal in three years to set up new projects on the 320 acres of the erstwhile Mavoor Gwalior Rayons plant, which was the largest private sector investment in the state.

The latest proposal submitted by the Birlas to the state government envisages a Rs 1,000 crore investment to set up hi-tech engineering services outsourcing (ESO) park, an Information technology and Information technology enabled services (IT and ITES) park and a township. It comes at a time when there is growing demand from local public for government takeover of the land in the possession of the company. The project report prepared by consultancy firm IIDC Limited, the infrastructural wing of IL&FS, envisages the setting up of a 5 lakh sqft ESO park which will offer state-of-the-art facilities for product design, prototype testing, validation and simulation labs in cutting edge areas like aerospace, defense, nanotechnology and other areas.

Also the project proposes setting up a 5 lakh sq ft IT & ITES park along with 18.2 lakh sq ft residential townships and 2.35 lakh sq ft business support infrastructure. The timeline for completion of the project as per the report is 84 months on getting project approval.
