BIAL attained clearances for the second expansion
Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has been formally accorded the environmental clearance for the second stage expansion of its Kempegowda International Airport. The expansion will include the construction of a new terminal along with a second runway, taxiways, aprons, aircraft parking and all aviation facilities and structures.
The expansion is envisaged to accommodate the future traffic growth, which is likely to reach 55 million passengers, annually by 2029-2030 and approximately one million tonnes of cargo movement. The expansion within the existing airport site area will cater to both aeronautical and non-aeronautical infrastructure facilities.
The second stage environmental clearance for the airport is an exciting milestone which now paves the way for us to secure final approvals for the project. This expansion will help the company in contributing significantly towards the state’s economic development and is the key to achieving our overall vision of making Bangalore the Gateway to South India.
