AIIMS to be set up in each state
Chief Ministers from various states have received a request from the ministry of health and family welfare to find out a suitable land for setting up AIIMS in their respective states. This initiative has been taken to meet the needs of the various states for health related problems.
Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan stated that the central government had received requests from states like Delhi, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh to set up AIIMS in these states. He also confirmed that the government had planned to set up a body of AIIMS in each state. On being questioned of setting up a body of AIIMS in Gujarat, the health minister replied that the government had requested Gujarat’s Chief Minister to locate a land for the purpose of AIIMS; however as of then they had not received any reply.
The project is going to be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. While commencing the announcements they also stated that as a first phase of the project six new AIIMS will be set up in Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Patna (Bihar), Rishikesh (Uttarkhand), Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Jodhpur (Rajasthan). This project will help in securing the development of various states as far as health issues are concerned.
