BMC asks officers to meet people
As per new initiatives taken by Briahmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC), the citizens of Mumbai will have a greater say in resolving civic issues at ward level.
BMC officers have been asked to attend meetings conducted by the advanced locality management (ALM) and local area citizens committee (LACC).
BMC commissioner Sitaram Kunte has come up with the diktat after having received suggestions from AGNI (Action for Good Governance and Networking for India). There are speculations to use social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to air grievances.
AGNI demanded ALM and LACC meetings to be more participative and result–oriented. Their other demands included that assistant commissioner of respective ward should convene and preside over the ALM meetings every month and HoDs of different departments at the ward-level should attend them.
