CM blames civic body over Mosque row
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit accused BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation of not taking proper action to stop construction of a mosque at Subhash Park in Central Delhi which led to violence in the area.Remains of a Mughal-era mosque were discovered near Jama Masjid recently during construction work and locals led by MLA Shoib Iqbal had raised a structure over the remains defying orders.
High court has ordered to stop the construction work and directed the civic authority to hand over the site to Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for further inquiry.
Meanwhile, 10 policemen were injured in a violence that broke out in the area after authorities had refused locals permission to carry out construction work.
