DDA Housing Scheme 2014 Draw of Lots The much anticipated and widely awaited draw of lots for the Delhi Development Authority Housing Scheme for 2014 schedules in November this year is going to be streamed live for online users. In the first of its kind announcement, the vice-chairman of the Delhi Development Authority has approved the proposal to webcast the draw through live streaming on YouTube. The move is seen as part of the DDA to bring in more transparency in the draw of lots process making the whole draw of lots process available for people unable to attend the ceremony in person.

The Delhi Development Authority housing scheme for 2014 has offered more than over 23,000 apartments across various categories, starting from as low as Rs.7 Lakhs to elite ones available at a price of Rs.1.2 crore. The scheme received an unprecedented 8.5 Lakh applications making DDA consider a proposal of webcasting the draw of lots program.

In an attempt to make sure that a large number of users can get unlimited access to the live webcast of the draw of lots, Delhi Development Authority is planning to use a dedicated server considering the likelihood of heavy traffic on the YouTube Channel on draw date. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), the premier R&D organization of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology has been given the responsibility to work out the technical details so that unlimited numbers of online users are able to see the proceedings without any technical glitch or website crash.

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has been a trusted partner for the Delhi Development authority in the past as it successfully managed the 2010 draw of lots under an equally popular scheme. The webcast would be made available on an exclusive YouTube channel with no streaming on DDA’s official website to avoid any crashes.

The draw would be overseen by a three-member team headed by a retired high court judge and two IT professionals from IIT Delhi and National Informatics Centre (NIC) respectively. The procedure for the draw has also been uploaded on the official website of Delhi Development Authority. Applicants can check the status of their application online.
