Haryana govt sets budget for infra development
According to the recent budget for the 2013-14 fiscal, Rs 890 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructural development of various districts in the entire state of Haryana. Out of this, a big amount (Rs 605.48 crore) has been solely dedicated to Gurgaon to develop the infrastructure of the city.
Gurgaon has always got a raw deal when it came to infrastructure or development. However, public claims that, the new plans and budget is merely a part of electoral benefits, as the general elections of 2014 are coming up.
Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda has visited Gurgaon and many other regions more than a dozen times in the last six months. The government has gone through a lot of criticism as they did not pay much attention towards the problems of southern part of the state for years. Many new projects including maintenance, flyovers, storm and sewer drains, and railway overbridges are coming up in the Millennium City.
Haryana government has also given green signal to a flyover project at Subhash Chowk and carry on a strengthening of the existing Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road (Iffco Chowk to Delhi border) with a given budget of Rs 60 crore.
The CM of the state instructed the officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) to cimmediately re-onstruct all city roads, internal and external as well. He said that the work has to be properly taken care of as there is no shortage of fund.
But the residents of South City claimed that, only those roads will be repaired where CM went and checked. They have also questioned the motive of development. They are of the opinion that the total development is taking place only because the elections are approaching.
Meanwhile the officials from CM’s office have totally denied the notion. They claimed that the instructions were issued last year itself. Also Assembly polls are two years away while the Parliament election is next year.
