Modi brings in reforms for taxes, highways and land acquisitions
This was much awaited, which the outgoing government couldn’t help with but the incoming government plans to spread its wings and spearhead the action. The BJP government lead by Narendra Modi is now ready to flush the old and bring in the new, and these would be steps that do not need approvals from anyone at the legislative. This would be implantation plans with timelines and guidelines, to be followed for projects related to infrastructure, highways and land acquisitions, says a source.
The plans aim to restore and revive a lot of projects in hand, specially for highways, and they look at touching around twenty five kilometers on a daily basis that too. The budget for the same would be finalized by the month of July, and the tax reforms on the same would be expected to be set too.
DTC or Direct Taxes Code is what the government aims to introduce, and along with that GST or Goods and Service tax too, which should by April 1st 2015 roll into action. DTC would be a method of reforming the old archaic laws on taxes, while GST would bring together the markets and remove the concept of multi-layered indirect taxes having just one TAX in place, says a source.
