Property registration on a standstill in Delhi

No Comments Sub Category:Delhi-NCR,Municipality Posted On: Nov 15, 2012

delhi propertyIts been two months since the Delhi Government has made an announcement concerning the permission to allow the sale and purchase of properties in 300 unauthorised colonies which were regularised along with other 538 settlements.

On September 6, the Delhi Government had set a deadline of about one month in order to allow the purchase and sale of properties in 312 settlements on the private land.

However this extension of the provision will provide relief to lakhs of colony residents as there were restrictions imposed after the issuing of the provisional  regularisation certificates by the government in 2008. The omission of this restriction will allow the residents to register properties  in their names owning to the probability of the escalation of the prices.

On September 26, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit addressed the Urban Development department to provide relief to the residents of such colonies within few days. However, this was followed by an uncertainty by the government to fulfill the promise within the given time due to the certain reservations by the legal department for allowing sale and purchase in the colonies.

It was told that there might be  legal obstacles while granting relief to the residents without the finalisation of the layout plans.
