From April 18, Santacruz Chembur Link Road will be open

Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project which is 3.5km long will be opened for motorists on April 18, 8 am.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will also open the 1096-metre-long Amar Mahal flyover which connects SCLR to Eastern Express Highway, along with the SCLR.

UPS Madan, MMRDA’s metropolitan commissioner, the entire stretch can be used by motorist.

The aim of Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) is to ease traffic snarls at Amar Mahal junction, Vakola, Sion and Kurla areas along with decongesting the Eastern and Western Express Highways. Through SCLR Project traffic chaos at Sion and Kalanagar junctions will also be reduced. By opening of this project commuters will be able to travel from Santacruz to Chembur in a mere 15-20 minutes.

During peak hours presently Mumbaikars require anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes to cross this stretch. To reach the upper level of the Double Decker flyover to reach Eastern Express Highway directly with the help of Amar Mahal Junction flyover, commuters can take Vakola Junction road. The commuters will take the lower level of the flyover and turn right to reach Kurla Railway Station and turn left to reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.

For up and down traffic, three lanes each are provided by the SCLR and is expected to carry more than 2 lakh vehicles per day. For up and down traffic, the upper and the lower levels of the flyover provide two lanes each.

Commuters who intend to cross over from Kurla Station to LT Terminus and vice versa, The MMRDA has also provided footpaths on the lower level flyover.
