Special police team proposed for Yamuna Expressway
In an evident attempt to ensure that commuting is safe for motorists on the high-speed Yamuna Expressway stretch, it is being proposed that the expressway should have a special police team.
The special police team proposed for the Yamuna Expressway will not only make commuting safer, but will also ensure that the jurisdiction hurdles which come in the way of effective policing are removed.
Noting that a “dedicated police team” is required for the Yamuna Expressway, Rama Raman – Chairman of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities – said that the enforcement of traffic rules on the expressway is quite deplorable.
Drawing attention to the fact that the Yamuna Expressway spans across spans six districts – Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Mathura, Hathras, Aligarh and Agra -, Raman said: “There have been cases when cops fought over jurisdiction.”
Raman further added that, in an attempt to end the jurisdiction issue with regard to policing on the Yamuna Expressway, the entire 165-km stretch of the high-speed expressway will be converted into “a separate district zone.”
Raman also revealed that government notification in this regard will likely be issued shortly; and added that the special police team for the Yamuna Expressway will be headed by an SP.
