Surveyors to be appointed to expedite Cidco plot transfer by Navi Mumbai civic body

Over proper demarcation and transfer of about 200 reserved plots, the civic body’s standoff with City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) and the issue is likely to be resolved soon with the appointment of surveyors.

Lack of proper demarcation was the main hurdle faced by the civic body which is planning to develop the plots for utility services according to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) sources. In a recent meeting between NMMC and Cidco the issue was addressed and the proposal to appoint surveyors to expedite the demarcation process was discussed at length.

The transfer of the 200-odd plots reserved for constructing markets, gardens and parking lots should get a boost, if both the parties agree. An official from the property department of NMMC alleged, “These plots were allotted without any demarcation. So we were not able to ascertain the exact area to be used and for what purpose. The department has been consistently corresponding with Cidco on this issue.”

The official added, don’t get struck in bureaucratic procedures to ensure public utility services, the civic body has hired a private agent to conduct the survey of the plots. Cidco is only necessary to verify the survey and make easy the process of preparing separate lease agreements for each of these plots.

Over the years and till date, NMMC has been demanding the handover of plots from Cidco; over 482 plots have been transferred. At the meeting the demand for transferring of around 592 more plots was also made. Even though the officials could not validate exactly when the relocate of these plots will take place, but they are expecting of positive development in the coming months.

As Cidco MD Sanjay Bhatia and NMMC commissioner Abasaheb Jarhad were not available for comments, the deputy municipal commissioner, Dadasaheb Chakbukswar informed that the meeting had taken place but he did not disclosed any detail.
