Increase in Stamp Duty. I had to shed extra 90000 on the purchase of a 30 lakh flat.
Q: On 26th April 2012 the Maharasthra govt. increased the stamp duty from 2% to 5% without any prior notice. 3% increase in a 2 bhk of around 40 Lakh amounts to 1.2lak increase, totalling to 2 lac from the previous 50 000. This is really looting the middle class. But then why there was no issue in the news papers and media? Increasing the stamp duty 150% at a stroke is unheard.

Latest Answer: Very true the hike in stamp duty was uncalled for and is strictly revenue-centric. We cannot blame only the builders for price rise but also the government.
