112 flats allocated under BSUP project
Recently, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) alloted 112 flats to be constructed under the Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) project in Warje to those affected by road construction and nullahs.
The central government had approved 20,528 tenements for the urban poor under the BSUP. However, PMC managed to construct 2,294 only and 3,474 that are still under-construction. There has been no progress seen on plans to construct another 14,760 tenements.
The PMC was asked to submit a report explaining the status of its plan which was supposed to get ready by March 2012 by state government.
Recently the PMC got warning from both the governments that if they fail to step up the efforts to complete projects under the BSUP, the funds meant for Pune will be diverted to other cities.
