No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Civic Issues,Property Tax,Pune Posted On: Nov 29, 2012

The Pune Cantonment Board is clicking properties pictures to check if it is used for industrial or residential purpose.

For the first time this is being done to maintain transparency in property tax and to make an assessment for 2011-2014 property tax.

PCB started off with providing notices to 12, 000 property owners. The notices were released to change the yearly rateable value of the properties. The property owners have to fill the notice within one month revealing the use of property.

Whether the property is used for commercial, residential or any other purpose. The civic body is going to take strict action against those who is going to provide fake or wrong information.

If the owners fail to provide information about the property within the given time, the revenue staff will organise physical verification for those properties.

The revenue officers after accumulating facts related to properties will propose taxes and they will again issue notices to the owners inviting objections. The PCB gets a revenue of Rs 13 crore from property taxes.
