24 highway plans to be NHAI’s deepest concern
The new road transport minister Nitin Gadkari had recently taken the initiative to ask the National Highways Authority of India to speed up the process of completion of more than 24 projects which are currently moving at an extremely slow rate. He did this while trying to revive the highway sector.
According to reliable sources, the minister has also told the officials that he will take up all the pending clearances and availability of land with other ministers. This also includes defence, environment and railways. There was a meeting arranged between Gadkari, his junior minister Krishna Pal Gurjar and the NHAI officials as well. This is where he asked the authorities to place the process of awarding projects on public private partnership and government funding.
After the private developers had promised premium which is the annual revenue, only then the projects were awarded to most. According to sources, there are 7 to 8 projects for now. This includes the Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad mega project which needs to be spent upon lavishly.
Gadkari and NHAI need to settle all their quarrels and disputes so that there is availability of equity with the developers so that new projects can be taken up soon. This will also help in the reduction of the load on the authority.
