25,000 illegal houses to be regularisedThere might be some good news for the illegal homes in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The Select Committee of the Vidhan Sabha has recommended that the buildings raised in violation of the construction norms and having up to 70 % deviation should be regularised. This should be done by charging nominal compounding rates and incentive should be given to those who will make exclusive parking on one or two floors.

This pro-people approach was adopted by the Select Committee of the Vidhan Sabha and everyone welcomed the move. The Select Committee, which met in Shimla yesterday, has taken a lenient view on this issue. This was done so that the issue of the unauthorised status of over 25,000 houses in the state can be changed to legal.

However, it has been decided that the houses which have been made on government, forest or municipal land without submitting building maps would not be approved.

It has been recommended to make provision for online availability of the form. This will be done so that those who want to seek regularisation can easily complete the formalities. It has been recommended that the owners of these houses should be given one month’s time to apply. The committee is also expected to have recommended some concessions with regards to the compounding rates. This move will be taken so that all the house owners can pay the penalty and get their houses regularised.
