55 Petitions against Land Acquisition in Gurgaon Withdrawn
Haryana Government has ensured that out of 65 petitions filed, 55 petitions against land acquisition in some areas of Gurgaon have been withdrawn and the claimants have agreed to put their grievances before a high-powered committee headed by principal secretary, town and country planning, to examine land acquisition for developing residential sectors 58-63 and 65-67 (commercial) in Gurgaon.
Meanwhile, state government today told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it has approved constitution of the committee over land acquisition in Sectors 58-63 in Gurgaon, including the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust in Ullahawas village.The government said it was also ready to review the cases even as the Bench fixed the case for further hearing tomorrow.
State’s Additional Advocate General Narinder Hooda also rejected allegations that state government had adopted a pick-and-choose policy in acquiring land in Gurgaon and favoured a Trust run reportedly by the Gandhi family. Additional Advocate General and Principal Secretary Town & Country Planning S S Dhillon, also present there, declined to name the trustees.
Counsel for the government told a division Bench comprising Justices Jasbir Singh and Augustine George Masih that it was willing to look into the petitions.
