85 crore people will be residing in Indian cities by 2050

CII- JLL report, ‘Indian Realty -Through the Looking Glass‘, has revealed that India is witnessing urbanization at an astonishing speed. In the meantime, urban population is increasing adding pressure on the Indian cities.

According to the report, the rate of change in India’s urban population is the highest among the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India and China). The report also states that by 2050, an estimate of 843 million people will live in the cities of India.

The nation’s face is changing along with the growing urbanization. Mainly the cities are witnessing fast evolving skyscrapers and different types of architectures replacing the slums and independent houses, expansion of roads and flyovers and other real estate developments.

The report also highlights that the average age of Indian population is gradually decreasing with this rapid urbanization.
