Water body goes un-noticed
The only biggest Sellur water tank in Madurai city which is spread across 126 acres has gone unnoticed today.
Even though the city witnessed good amount of rainfall, the lake is hardly filled.
Also it has been traced that the commercial establishments have encroached the surrounding area of the lake.
With a strict warning giving form the police department, the illegal encroachments are being cleared.
Moreover, to increase the outlet capacity and to strengthen the supply channels of the tank Public Works Department (PWD) has submitted an estimation of Rs 12crores to the government to protect the tank from flood in future.
