Residents to pay house tax arrears as per old policy
Gurgaon- In a recent announcement concerning the new tax policy, it was insisted by the zonal taxation officials that residents ready to pay their arrears for the financial years 2008-09 and 2009-10 should follow the old tax policy.
However, the residents are not quite happy with that as the tax amount is much lesser when calculated as per the new tax policy. A new tax policy was announced by the government in June which was portrayed as an attractive policy to attract more number of users.
There are a large number of people who are reluctant to pay these taxes as they think it is quite steep but with the State Government’s initiation of imposing a token amount of Rupees one per square yard per annum for people dwelling in housing units below 250 square yards and self-occupied flat up to 500 square feet, there were more number of people ready to pay the tax.
The zonal tax officials are somehow not aware of their unmindful norms and are still insisting on the payment of arrears according to the old policy despite the statements in the notification that arrears will be calculated according to the new policy. By insisting the payers they expect to generate more revenue while the residents expect to get as much rebate.
