Comments(2) Sub Category:Civic Issues,Other cities Posted On: Nov 26, 2012

power billsNoida- A protest has been held by the residents in Greater Noida in opposition to the discom Noida Power Company Limited (NCPL), as they had imposed increased amount of surcharge by about 8 percent on the electricity bills.

The Sector Gamma-I residents stated that due to the inadequate supply and maintenance services by the discom, the hike has been called off.

Alok Singh, a resident of Greater Noida stated that there is a lack of precise feedback being registered by the consumers prior to the imposing of the surcharge. Despite the absence of the commensurate increase in the power supply or proper maintenance services, the hike was imposed.

Rumors by the residents stated that there were botched-up power consumption readings by the discom especially after the installation of new electronic meters as there seem to be an increase  of about 1.5 of the power bills when compared to the previous year.
