Power bills double up in AP
Hyderabad- For the first time, the state discoms have spent Rs 3,992 crore in order to purchase additional power for the seven months causing an additional responsibility on the part of the discoms creating a fluctuation in their finances.
Last year, Rs 3,498 crore were spent by the distribution companies to get power from other states and eventually the power purchase by the state has been increasing from 2010.
It is said that the four discoms in Andhra Pradesh are under financial crises followed by claims by the Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA). This makes it quite difficult for the bescom to recover unless a new rule is passed by the Supreme Court in their favor. Discom currently has to deal with Rs. 10,000 crore with officials rumoring that the sector is on the verge of a collapse.
