KMC to increase house tax
Kanpur- City mayor, Jagatveer Singh Drona announced a meeting of Kanpur Municipal Corporation officials on Dec 15 to discuss the matter regarding the increment in house tax.
Nagar nigam officials finalised an increment of 10 to 15 per cent on annual letting value of the house last month. However, many corporators opposed the tax hike and thus the Mayor wrote to the nagar nigam secretariat to house a meeting to discuss the issue.
Corporators Ashok Tiwari, Naveen Pandit, Mahendra Pandey, Satyendra Mishra, Neelam Chaurasia, Laxmmi Kanaujia ,Reeta Shastri , Mahendra Pratap Singh, Ramapti Jhunjhunwala and others felt that this increment will increase burden on house owners of the city so they requested mayor to gather and discuss about the issue.
On the other hand, few corporators took advantage of this issue while BJP corporators met and informed views of residents to municipal commissioner N K Singh Chauhan.
But, municipal commissioner made it clear that he will not reduce the tax nor withdraw it as the decision entirely belongs to him.
Commonfloor believes that such decisions must be only be implemented if it benefits both the party.
