Residents of Kozhikode striving to reduce power bill
Kozhikode- Kerela State electricity Board (KSEB) is now becoming strict with rules of consumption of power by charging penalty for consuming power above 300 units per month.
The household consumers are now striving to limit their power consumption every day. Penalty charged will be double the normal tariff for every unit exceeding the proposed limit. Residents of apartments in Kozhikode are facing maximum problem because they completely depend on electronic and electrical equipment for cooking, washing and cleaning work.
Since the apartment residents have no other mode of energy, they have started their search for helpers to manually do the work. The situation has become even worse with high price and late distribution of LPG, unavailability and unreasonable price of firewood, etc. The residents of apartments in Kozhikode are not happy with the decision of KSEB as urban population is forced to depend on these machines for day to day work.
Many people who switched to induction cooktops are now resuming the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to save electricity, others have stopped using air conditioner in summer.
Rural population have switched to wood-burning stove to reduce power consumption. This situation has strengthened the market of wood stoves.
