Ownership rights in 45 resettlements approved by the Central
New Delhi- In a news providing relief to lakhs of Delhi residents, the centre has approved the ownership rights of people residing in the 45 resettlement colonies constructed during 1950.
Last year in July, the Delhi Government had decided to grant the ownership rights to these colony owners which housed various families who were later dislocated and were shifted to the centre.
This decision of granting ownership will benefit about seven lakh families with allotted plots of 25 to 80 square yards on license basis.
The cabinet meeting held recently had the Chief Minister of Delhi welcoming Union Government’s decision to ratify to grant ownership rights for about 45 resettlement colonies being developed since 1950. The removal and demolition of JJ clusters led to these colonies being by DDA or Government of India to house the dislocated families.
On the other hand, the city government stating its difficulties and their continuation in resettlement colonies continuously for decades together takes the initiative to grant the ownership rights. This would be applicable to about 2.5 lakh plot owners.
Areas like Wazirpur, Satya Niketan, Sriniwas Puri, Madangir and Phankha Road has resettlement colonies.
