Airport Metro test ride have officials as passengers
New-Delhi- With the airport metro link ready to function, the senior officials of the Ministry of Urban Development will be posing as passengers for the test drive before they open it for the public. The commercial operations of the link is expected to start on Tuesday.
The officials who had to be the passengers for the test drive included the deputy secretary, under secretaries and directors. The officers who boarded the train at 11 am took a test drive of an entire route.
The test drive by the officials was taken in order to ensure safety and fitness of the corridor. Despite the CMRS issuing the safety approval, the senior officials were still ordered to travel on the corridor and observe the nature of operation.
Owing to the fact that the entire corridor had undergone repairs, it was very important that the officials take a test drive before opening it for the public.
Apart from just ensuring the train safety, the inspection also aimed at studying the nature of the preparedness of the line. The officials also kept a check on the travel time with the corridor distance being covered in 22 minutes, four minutes more than the 18 minutes it took earlier with the train running at 50 km/ph.
The metro speed was instructed by the CMRS and functioned as per the routine.
