New development plan of Pune to wait for another month
The revised development plan which was suggested for old city by the elected members of Pune Municipal Corporation have to wait another month to see the light of the day.
The civic body has claimed that it will take at least a month to publish and display the plan. Earlier, PMC had approved the development plan (DP) for old city areas which was in draft mode for long.
The final draft including 23 supplementary was placed before the general body and all the opposition parties opposed the DP.
The revised DP was approved on January 8 of this year with 79 corporators voted in favour and 59 corporators voted against the approval of the DP. The mayor then took a month to sign the development plan.
Ideally, the plan is to publish the DP for the general public in newspapers and also display it at concerned offices for the people to view after the general body’s approval.
It again takes suggestions and objection on the development plan from the public. After the suggestions and objections, the general body again reviews it and sends it for final approval to the State government.
However, the suggestions that were made by the members were so critical, that the civic authority needs another month to review the same. They need time to clarify the changes suggested by the corporators.
The draft plan will be published before the April 2013 deadline which will afterwards seek suggestions/objections from citizens and submit it to the state government.
What does the Plan contain?
*Hike in the floor space index (FSI), cluster development for old ‘wadas’ and a new road network in old areas.
*Allocation of additional FSI for the redevelopment of old properties in Pune, parking plots and the areas through which the proposed metro will run.
*PMC allows 1.5 FSI in the old city areas, which include the Peth areas.
*Metro rail project and cluster development of ‘wadas’ with appropriate share to tenants.
