PMC approved development plan for old city areas
Pune Municipal Corporation has recently approved the development plan (DP) for old city areas which was in draft mode for long.
The general body of the municipal corporation approved the same after12 hours of discussion and speeches by 53 corporators. It was approved after three long months of getting it.
At the end of discussion, about 53 supplementaries were submitted demanding changes in DP. Most of the amendments asked for by the corporators were for reservations in their wards. Out of 53, 23 supplementaries were approved, while 20 were rejected and ten corporators took back their supplementaries.
The final draft including 23 supplementaries was placed before the general body and all the opposition parties opposed the DP. 79 corporators voted in favour and 59 corporators voted against the approval of the DP.
The draft plan will be published before the April 2013 deadline which will afterwards seek suggestions/objections from citizens and submit it to the state government.
What does the Plan contain?
*Hike in the floor space index (FSI), cluster development for old ‘wadas’ and a new road network in old areas.
*Allocation of additional FSI for old properties in Pune redevelopment, parking plots and the areas through which the proposed metro will run.
*PMC allows 1.5 FSI in the old city areas, which include the Peth areas.
*Metro rail project and cluster development of ‘wadas’ with appropriate share to tenants.
