Rajkot city properties to have unique ID
Rajkot- In a recent announcement made by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), the RMC has decided to give each property a unique property identification number (PID) as part of the urban reforms.
Owing to this decision, it had already initiated the e-governance system through IT application including the GIS (geographical information system) and the MIS (management of information system) for various services.
This is the first such city in Gujarat where the city’s complete infrastructure and the municipal services will be available via the GIS-MIS interface. The GIS method used for properties will include all the dwelling units, institutional buildings, commercial units and others which come under the jurisdiction of RMC.
It has further been surveyed and mapped in order to make the information of the building and its units available in the database which also includes property pictures.
According to the RMC town planning officer, the usage of the data on a random basis has resulted in the increase of the property tax collection by Rs. 160 crore from Rs. 120 crore in the past two years. It has resulted in an increase by 33 percent. However, it is expected that there will be a huge amount of property collection once the survey and the ground verifications of the property are completed for all the properties in Rajkot.
Further there will also be special survey squads who will visit each house and acquire the valid data to finalize it. These properties will be mapped through GIS.
