Rajkot Urban Poor to get Proper Shelter

The urban poor (slum dwellers) in Rajkot are about to get the proper housing with all the amenities with proper one BHK along with basic add ons such as bedroom, hall and kitchen and also covers the amenities like street lights, waste management system, health care centers, schools and even the houses are said to be made off earthquake proof, under the co-operation of Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme from the central-government and sponsored by JNNURM.

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation commissioner Ajay Bhadoo reported saying that nearly 2,000 odd houses will be constructed in certain areas over the city. The central government will be contributing nearly 50% , the RMC lending 10% and the state government with 20% contribution. However as per the plan RMC has already segregated the area under this scheme. Until now the central government is about to fund nearly 45 crores. The RMC has done over a survey regarding the existing slums all over the city and they found to have recorded 84 and odd slums in the city. This house allotment scheme is based on the 30 years lease period if only no violation over this is recorded.
