Residents irked by delay in road repairs
Residents rue that repair and tarring work of the road was progressing at a snail’s pace. They alleged there was foul play in delay being caused.The Janhit Manch, Kullu, headed by Mahender Thakur, held a protest at the camping site near Raison, 11 km from here, recently with residents of Raison, Dobhi and Shirad, along with taxi, jeep and tempo union members.
The pitiful condition of NH-21 between Kullu and Manali has emerged as a major poll issue in the parliamentary elections.
They shouted slogans against the National Highways Authority of India authorities and halted traffic for around 10 minutes, commuters alleged. They said tourists were a harried lot due to bad roads, adding that the dust was causing major health hazards for them. The protesters said they would carry out a dharna in case the authorities failed to meet their demands.
