Several shops in some shopping complexes not used in Delhi
From the 632 shops in the several shopping complexes constructed by DDA, many have remained unsold for almost 20 years, Union Urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
These include 298 shops in general category (east zone has 111, south zone has 47, west zone has 140) which have remained vacant for around 15-20 years. Another 111 shops in general category and 223 in reserved category have been vacant since 2011-12, the minister said.
Naidu said, henceforth, shops under general category would be disposed of by the DDA through e-auctioning to ensure transparency and wider public response.
All these shops that have been constructed in several shopping complexes have been left vacant. The Delhi Development Authority has been looking for a process to allot all these shops so that the proper usage of these constructed units is used. Around 298 shops from 632 shops that have been constructed have been kept empty and have not been used. Some shops in the general and reserved category have also not been used. Hopefully after the process of the proper allotment these units will be bought to use.
