Dumping of garbage on pavement upsets residents
Residents of R T Nagar are upset with the care-takers of a Vinayaka temple for dumping garbage on the pavement. The problem began around year ago when the condition of the temple’s waste bin became so bad that it could no longer be used. Temple authorities got rid of the bin and began dumping waste outside the premises. They say that taking a cue from the temple, people in the neighbourhood too have begun dumping garbage at the same spot.
RTN Residents’ Welfare Association and Temple authorities requested the BBMP to give the temple a new waste bin, but in vain. Now the temple authorities got rid of the bin and began dumping waste on pavement and the residents in the neighbourhood also follow suit. The Residents living near the temple on 1st Cross, R T Nagar II Stage have also complained to the medical official (Hebbal zone) about the risk of diseases but no actions yet taken.
Corporator Govind Raju (ward number 46) says that Vinayaka temple falls in ward no 33 but his ward (ward number 46) is is very clean and garbage is collected twice every day. The residents hope the problem will be solved when tenders for garbage collection will be out by BBMP Bangalore.
Residents and devotees are upset about the dirty atmosphere around a holy place. Residents of R T Nagar fear about spreading of malaria, dengue and other health problems.
