A4e India Pvt Ltd was acquired by Skills Academy
Skills Academy Private Limited, founded by DLF chairman KP Singh’s daughter Pia Singh is doing good business. The company has acquired A4e India Private Limited, the Indian arm of the UK-based A4e Limited. The acquisition comes at a time when the government is focussing on skill development and job creation.
There are many start-ups which are doing well in the space of skill development in the sector of blue collared jobs especially in manufacturing and construction industries. A4e provides skill development, training and placements across various industries and different states in India and has extensive experience of working in rural, tribal areas and difficult terrains. They have a placement record in excess of 75 % of the learners they have trained.
The company was started in 2012. Two big names of India Inc, one from Genpact Ltd, the country’s largest business process outsourcing firm, and the other from DLF Ltd, India’s largest real estate developer, had joined hands to enter the skill development business.
PramodBhasin the non-executive vice-chairman and former president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Genpact, and Pia Singh the daughter of DLF promoter K P Singh, had set up a skill development company, Skills Academy, in their personal capacity, to enter the business.
The company has done well in the last few years and now has started growing inorganically by acquiring companies too. Pia Singh stated that this provides the company with immediate scale and adds experienced teams in the states where they want to operate.
