Adani Group granted clearances for Mundra SEZ

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jul 21, 2014

Environment and other coastal clearances have been granted to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) for its special economic zone (SEZ) to be spread across an 8,481-hectare area in Mundra — a project which had been halted because approvals were pending for the last many years.

With environmental and coastal regulator zone (CRZ) clearances now having been granted to the SEZ project in Mundra, all the pending issues leading to the stalling of the project have been resolved.

According to a statement released by APSEZ, the grant of clearances will pave the way for the construction of a desalination plant and an effluent treatment plant in the SEZ. The clearances to the Mundra SEZ have been granted one-and-a-half months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office.

Since the requisite clearances have been granted to the SEZ project in Mundra, companies which had been restricted by the Gujarat High Court from operating inside the SEZ will likely make a return to the complex in the near future.

Noting that the SEZ provides seamless connectivity through road, rail and sea, Adani Group’s Chairman Gautam Adani said: “The clearances will encourage investment in the SEZ, and the development will be at a much faster pace now.”
