Affordable flats are less in Mumbai
Only few thousand affordable flats are released by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
There are millions of people looking for their own houses in Mumbai.
The annual lottery scheme by the housing board is delayed in this year, along with the number of houses available in Mumbai is almost a fifth of what is put up for sale every year.
Only 775 new houses are available under the MHADA lottery scheme this year.
Out of this 774 apartments 92 are two-bedroom apartments for the high-income category, while 234 and 449 houses are meant for middle and low-income groups respectively.
Last year around 4000 flats were sold against 1.3 lakh applications under the scheme.
