Akrama-Sakrama Bill sent back
Akrama-Sakrama scheme that is expected to give a clean chit to nearly four lakh properties in the state by way of regularization has been sent back for clarifications. This is the second time the bill is being sent back from the Governor’s office in the last two months. Bhardwaj is the third governor to have rejected the bill. This time he has sought more clarifications from the government.
On Monday, the Karnataka Town and Country Planning and Certain Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2010 was returned from Governor’s office. The issue is mired in ambiguities — while the government wants to regularize all unauthorized buildings and revenue plots through this scheme, the High Court has ordered the state not to do so and to punish the officials involved in permitting formation of unauthorized layouts and structures.
Bangalore in-charge minister R Ashoka said the government would try and convince the Governor to approve the Bill or approach the court. The scheme is expected to give a clean chit to nearly four lakh properties in the state. Last week, the government stopped the registration of revenue properties and warned the sub-registrars of action if such transactions are recorded.
