Allahabad HC issues notice to Noida officials on contempt petition

No Comments Sub Category:Ahmedabad,Realty News Posted On: Jul 29, 2014

On Wednesday, notices were issued by the Allahabad High Court to three senior Noida officials, on a contempt petition filed by Brahma Pal, a farmer of Patwari village whose land was acquired in 2008.

The three Noida officials to whom notices have been issued include A V Rajamouli, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar; Shishir Kumar Greater Noida’s ADM of Land Acquisition; and Rama Raman, Chairman of Greater Noida Authority.

Issuing notices to the three officials, Justice Pankaj Naqvi has asked them to file counter affidavits. The failure on the part of the officials to file counter affidavits can lead to framing of charges after they are summoned to the court.

According to the accusations levelled by Brahma Pal, even though land acquisition carried out in 2008 at Patwari village in Sector 3 of Greater Noida was set aside by the court on July 19, 2011, builders have apparently connived with the authorities to continue the construction of buildings at the previously acquired land in the village.

The Allahabad High Court has directed the listing of the Brahma Pal’s contempt petition in the week beginning September 1, 2014. The court has also stated that the opposite parties do not have to appear at the court at this stage.
