Within the end of the year, you might find yourself walking into one of the now unused buildings in your neighbourhood to watch a movie. The Corporation officials have identified land and buildings in several neighbourhoods to set up air-conditioned Amma theatres that will offer tickets at less than 25 which are very cheap as compared to others.

With a target of having one Amma theatre in each of the 15 zones in the first phase, the civic body is looking to convert some of its old unused buildings including community halls. Nungambakkam, Ramapuram, Mint, Anna Nagar, Harbour, Maduravoyal and Perungudi will be among the first neighbourhoods to get Amma theatres.

This construction of Amma theatres will serve to the need of the movie enthusiasts as watching a movie will become cheap that too in an air conditioned halls. Where multiplexes provide tickets priced at Rs 200 and above these Amma theatres will be providing tickets at just Rs 25. If the plans go as stated the theatres might come up within this year end. This is definitely a good news for all the movie buffs residing in the city of Chennai.
