AP Government puts an end to land-grabbing
The AP government has ordered to stop a suspected land grabbing attempt on the basis of a 200 year old gift deed. The land is said to be an ‘abadi’ land, a common property of the village.
Anil Chandra Punetha, the principal secretary of registration, has stayed an order issued by former chief commissioner of land administration (CCLA), cancelling the ‘no objection certificates’ issued to private entities for construction of structures on the 2.57 acre land in Phisal Banda near Owaisi Hospital in Santoshnagar.
Five individuals of a single family, showing gift deeds from the time of Maharaja Chandulal as a proof of ownership, claimed that the land belongs to them. They had applied for a NOC from the government in 2010 and it was granted. After the NOCs were issued, an objection was raised by CPM members.
Later the state government and the Lokayukta directed the CCLA to take necessary action. Based on the responses of applicants and collector’s remarks, the CCLA cancelled the NOCs stating that they were obtained using wrongful advantage.
