Architects to be fined by HUDA for faulty building plans
HUDA authorities find violations in building layouts in newly constructed houses within its jurisdiction, architects will be issued notices, not house owners.
Usually a house owner is sent notices if HUDA finds any discrepancies at the time of issuing the completion certificate. The home owner is not issued such a certificate in case of a violation.
HUDA administrator P C Meena points out that the violations in building layouts take place because of an architect’s mistake and the onus lies with the architect. The building plans are submitted by architects to the authorities.
Under the new plan, a new building will be surveyed and its layout plan will be inspected by HUDA. In case the authorities find any structural violations of any kind, the architects will be issued a notice.
However, architects argue that they make changes at the behest of home owners and it would be inappropriate to put the onus on them.
