Arkavathy allottees write to Prime Minister
Over 8,000 members of Arkavathy Layout Allotees’ Association, who have been denied theirĀ promised plots, have written to Prime Minister over the lack of concern of Bangalore Development Authority and the state government, to draw the PM’s attention to their condition.
The Association have paid the sital value in the year 2006 and around 4,000 sites have been registered and they have been paying property tax since 2006.
This is the only residential layout which has got approvals and clearances from court but in spite of all nods the administration is unable to deliver the sites.
A decade has passed by since the layout was notified, but the allottees are yet to get their plots. Even the site have not even been carved in the layout and the allottees who have got their property registered Are paying property tax for several years now.
Allottees also mentioned in the letter that they have been waiting for the resolution of their problem for over eight years during which the cost of material and construction cost has doubled.
Arkavathy Layout plan was floated in 2003. The layout was to comprise 20,000 sites and 3,900 acres of land was to be acquired for the layout. A preliminary notification was issued for acquiring land off Bellary Road.
The final notification was issued in 2004 and around 2, 750 acres of land was acquired. There was some trouble for land acquisition and BDA in 2006 allotted only 8,813 sites.
Now, BDA has decided to pay 40 percent of development land as compensation to farmers but payment plans have also run into problems.
