Athradi-Bajpe 4-laning soon
The newly appointed civic official said that elaborate plans have been made to develop the three coastal districts of the State and Athradi-Bajpe four-laning is one among the ambitious projects for the year 2013-14.
The Chairman of Coastal Development Authority said that a scheme named Jyotigrama Yojane, which is adopted from Gujarat to provide 24 hour power supply to houses in rural areas which is designed by the CDA. Under the scheme, Karkala Taluk is taken as a pilot project and will be implemented under the supervision of MESCOM.
The Athradi-Bajpe four laning project will cover a distance covers 66.55 kilometres and the total cost of the project will be Rs 580 crore. However, the project intends to minimise the distance to 55.95 kilometres.
The project details have been sent to the government for approval. The project has already acquired 136.72 acres of land and however, more 298.53 acres of land is required. A sum of Rs 275 crore has been reserved for the compensation package under land acquisition process.
