Authorities finally answer questions regarding EWS houses at Dwarka
Answering queries raised by the media regarding inclusion of EWS houses at Dwarka, Sector -23 in the new housing scheme as one bedroom apartments, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Monday clarified that the flats at Dwarka, Sector-23 was initially conceived as affordable houses for lower sections of the society and accordingly the work was started on ground in the year 2010.
During an inspection of sample flat in 2012, the then minister of Urban Development had suggested that these flats, when ready, should be used as EWS houses for project affected persons and rehabilitation of nearby slum dwellers.
Accordingly, in order to identify the cluster, part survey was conducted of nearby slum clusters and simultaneously efforts were made to get funds from government to subsidize the cost so that the flats are within the affordable range of the slum dwellers.
This query has been underlying since a long time. The people have been questioning on the flats hear in Dwarka. Finally the queries have been answered by the authorities. These were flats made for lower section people as affordable houses.
