Bangalore residents trained on waste disposal
Over 2,000 residents of JP Nagar I Phase were given training on waste disposal by Indian People’s Council.
50 volunteers of the citizen action group enlightened them of the importance of reducing and segregating waste at source. The group sources state that 70 per cent of residents welcomed the idea of segregating waste at households itself.
The promoter of the group said that if each of the 2,000 residents passes on the message to one person at least, another 2,000 will be aware of the means of easing the city’s garbage burden and will be conscious about the process and need of garbage disposal.
The Indian People’s Council is not impressed by BBMP’s idea to make garbage segregation mandatory by incentives and penalties as they say that the civil body cannot monitor it on everyday basis.
