Bangalore to segregate waste by teaming up
With just three days left for the mandatory segregation of waste imposed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), there have been grave efforts put by the BBMP, the Residents Welfare Associations (RWA) and the Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) to ensure that the city is all spick and span and is able to manage the garbage it generates.
This is the first time segregation of waste at source is going to be done in such a large scale in the country.
The BBMP is working on the information kit which includes videos, pamphlets, frequently asked questions (FAQs) etc. Meanwhile the NGOs and RWAs are conducting awareness programmes in their wards.
There have also been visits to homes by the members of the Green Technologies and Full Circle and distributed reusable bags to store dry waste in. They also made the general public aware about the methods of segregation.
