The residents of the upscale Sadashivanagar had wanted the civic authorities to either restrict movement of vehicles on 18th cross road or to provide them with more parking space. BBMP responded to it, saying it would widen the road at the cost of pavements to give residents their desired parking space. Now the civic body is shrinking footpaths in Sadashivnagar 18th cross road to provide them with more parking space.

The residents had suggested that entry of vehicles be banned during peak hours, along with a complete ban on autos, two-wheelers and other transport vehicles. The police suggested that since restricting the flow of vehicular traffic was not possible, BBMP should think of narrowing down pavements to provide residents with parking space. The civic officials liked the idea and proposed that the pavement width be reduced by three feet on either side.

The civic body is shrinking footpaths in Sadashivnagar 18th cross road where homes of high-profile people, including that of late actor Rajkumar, are located. The civic officials liked the idea of narrowing down pavements to provide residents with parking space. With the residents too approving the proposal, BBMP has begun the work of shrinking the pavements, allotting a budget of Rs 20 lakh for it.

The ultimate sufferers are the pedestrians. With pavements on the main road encroached, and now, with footpaths being cut to size, Sadashivanagar has become one of the least pedestrian friendly localities in the city.
