BJP, BSP stage dramatic walkout over SP’s unfulfilled promises

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jul 03, 2014

In a volte-face with regard to fulfilment of promises in its election manifesto, the ruling Samajwadi Party has not given farmers six times the circle rate while acquiring their land. In response, the BSP walked out from the assembly on Wednesday, during a question hour.

On being questioned by BSP legislator Dr. Dharampal Singh, Revenue Minister Shivpal Yadav informed that the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, has been effective in Uttar Pradesh since 1st January, 2014.

Singh mentioned how land was being acquired for four projects in Agra, and none of the farmers were getting six times the circle rate. Leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya read out SP’s election manifesto, and highlighted the government’s non-fulfilment of promises, following which BSP staged a walk-out.

At another question, BJP blamed the state government for providing costly power to urban consumers. BJP’s Radhamohan Das Aggrawal also mentioned how the state was failing to reimburse the difference in power supplied to rural consumers at a reduced price. In view of unsatisfactory replies on the part of the ruling government, the BJP legislators also trooped out of the assembly hall.
